We are currently meeting for adoptions on an individual basis. Please feel free to take a look at our available kitties and/or contact us with questions! _____________________________________ Domestic Long Hair / Mixed (long coat) : : Female (spayed)
Milly is a gorgeous 2 year old fluffy Russian Blue/Maine Coon mix with the sweetest, most endearing personality and everyone who meets her falls in love with her. Sadly, she suffers from a chronic condition called stomatitis, which will require continued veterinary care for her life span.
We are happy to explain stomatitis to potential adopters, but briefly, it required that she had all her teeth extracted, which FFLAR had done under the care of a wonderful veterinarian. Unfortunately, extracting all the teeth is a successful cure in only 80% of cases, and our sweet Milly falls into the 20% who will need to receive regular steroid shots to alleviate the painful flare ups of stomatitis, and she may have to be on a special diet as well. At this time, she is getting shots about every four-five months, but we are hoping her condition will improve and she will need fewer shots in the future.
Milly is such a special girl and her foster mom would adopt her in a heartbeat, but Milly needs and deserves more attention than she gets in a busy foster home. It is difficult to provide a special diet with a multi-cat household, and when Milly is not feeling 100%, the other cats sense it and she gets picked on. When she has gotten a steroid shot and is feeling great, she owns the joint and commands prime real estate on mom’s lap, but at those times she needs peace and quiet and loving the most, she gets bullied.
Milly gets along with anyone she meets, including other cats and dogs and kids. She will adjust well to a loving home if she can be the center of attention or share her home with only one or two other critters. She is a darling purr baby who loves to crawl onto your lap and make air biscuits with her paws. She is very fluffy and will need someone who has the time to brush her often, especially during times her mouth is painful and she can’t groom herself as well as usual.
If you think you have room in your heart and home for our sweet girl, and the time and means to ensure she receives regular veterinary care, please text Milly’s foster mom, Laura, at 540-272-3506 (cell).
