Mr. Baker (AKA Mr. B, Beezles) is a big, shy and very sweet older gentleman. Once he gets to know and trust you he wants nothing more than to snuggle and get belly rubs. Baker is VERY friendly and polite with other cats and would do best in a home with a cat or two for company. His favorite thing to do is cuddle on the bed at night with his fosters. He rolls around and purrs like crazy. Baker got his name because he kneads all the time like he's making biscuits! It's so cute.
Mr. Baker has lived the majority of his life outdoors as a community cat who'd previously been TNR'ed (trap/neutered/released) and is still learning (and loving!) the indoor life. Recently, he started becoming friendly with caretakers at a local feral cat colony and several neighbors, and they wanted what was best for him: a safe and warm forever home! It took several weeks in his foster home but he's mastered the litter box and has had no accidents recently as long as his box is kept very clean and is accessible. He is a large cat and will need a large litter box!
Baker seems to prefer Oko Cat clumping wood litter over the sand and clay stuff. It's closer to what he's used to going in outdoors. He is very good about having his nails trimmed and being groomed as long as you butter him up with pets first. He is still learning about scratch posts and cardboard scratch mats but may still scratch on furniture. Absolutely no declawing permitted. He will learn in time and needs patience. Baker is still learning about toys and so far loves feather wands, stringy toys and fuzzy mice. Jingly ones are too much right now!
His ideal home would be quiet, predictable, patient and cat savvy with one or more other cats to socialize with. Having other cats around has really boosted his confidence and helped him to acclimate. He is clearly NOT a fan of dogs as he's possibly had bad encounters in the past. At his age he should be indoor only, but having lived most of his life outdoors a home with access to a catio or enclosed porch would be an additional bonus to keep him happy on warmer days.
Traits : Shy, affectionate, cat friendly, mellow. No young children (10+), no dogs.
